Conservatives are not opposed to helping others, in fact they are known to contribute more to charities than liberals. They simply want to follow the constitution.

I urge everyone to read "The 5000 Year Leap" and you will understand that we are taking our country down the wrong road. It is not the road that our founding fathers planned for us, nor is it the one that made us the greatest country in the world. Any more spending is just not feasible. We are already assured of terrible inflation. It is beyond comprehension how so many people can ignore the economic state we are in and continue to ask for more. (By the way, the KOMO report of thousands in that march today I believe to be significantly exaggerated.)

With the debt piling up already to the extent that each and every US household owes >$500,000, we definitely can't afford to take on more. It's my understanding that >80% of the American people are satisified with their health care and coverage. Certainly there can be improvements made to the system and we want to find solutions for the other 20%, but it should be at the state level not at the federal. Our constitution does not guarantee us health care, any more than it guarantees us a house or food. We are a compassionate people and we will provide safety nets but they should be managed at the local level where the need can be adequately determined. The Medicare program is known to be abused by fraud, as is nearly everything the federal government takes over.
