HijiNKS ENSUE - A Geek Webcomic : The Final Problem

Really? You draw the line at Heroes season 4? I think it could have been fine if Season 2 was the last one, if they had wrapped it up.

That's why you wait to put all the belt things on until you get out of the car. I've been going to faires for 10 years now, and I never put my belt and pouch on until I'm out of the car. Either that or you move everything to the front.

There's an armorer on the Renaissance Faire circuit called "LaForge Armories." They had a miniature Bat'leth in their tent. I held it up with a quizzical look to say "why" and they just said "because we can."

Renaissance Faires are killer when it comes to that. I have a sterling silver torc that is a little too small for me anymore, and is too heavy for my wife to wear. There's an assortment of knives lying around. The worst part is when you're working there, you can justify it, thinking you'll work there again, especially if you're one of the actors. "Oh, it's fine if I drop $300 on this finely crafted, hand and a half broadsword. I can use it for combat next year." And yet my wife and I went back to the one we met at this past year, and bought kilts. That we've worn a grand total of 3 times.

I'm taking my wife to see it tomorrow. We've both been looking forward to it since we found out it was coming out. The thing I was interested in the most was how Rowlf sounded. From what I understood, since Jim Henson's death, they hadn't had anyone do a Rowlf voice because no one could get it right, but I saw him speaking for a split second in the new movie commercials.

*Performing* Carmina Burana is about as amazing as a rock concert. Especially when you get into reading the text and the first few movements are about how Fortune is the one who makes the world go 'round and there's nothing you can do. Also, being a dude and getting to sing the drinking section ("In Taberna") is pretty cool. There's also a revised version of the 1812 Oveture that incorporates the Russian Orthodox hymn that Tchaikovsky used for the melody. They *really* don't prepare you for the cannon...

Who did Thor get combined with in the Amalgam Comics era? I know it was Batman and Wolverine to make DarkClaw or something like that. Also, I'm fairly certain that's Bat-Mjolnir. Awesome

I went right after finals, so it was an intense, "always something to do" situation into "absolutely nothing to do." You *can* get access to the internet, but it costs a bit. I'd recommending going on one of the all sailing days, probably mid-week and spending 30 minutes on the web to check your e-mail. Maybe update us on how it goes. Also, get *one* soft drink card for the whole week and split it with your wife. They're expensive, but it's nice to have it around and you can get as many as you want per trip. Just hope the ice cream freezer doesn't break on day 2 like it did on mine. Also, be prepared to gain weight. Cruise ships are a combination of a floating hotel and a floating buffet. Hungry for a snack when you wake up at 3 AM to take a leak? Head down to the Lido deck and grab whatever you want. Seriously. 24/7 food. Force yourself to relax on day 1 or 2. Half Moon Cay is nice. It's a created island and the water is crystal clear. For chrissake wear sunscreen. I was laid up for about 24 hours even though I was wearing a shirt. The entertainment on our cruise was nice, but I assume there's going to be at least one or two shows per night. Three days in you won't even be *thinking* about work. Except when all the fancy bastards keep coming up to you and going "OMG Joel I love your comic!!!"

Since I assume you'll get enough sales to go, I have to tell you that you'll have a good time even if JoCo gets sick on shrimp and spends the whole week in his cabin. My parents and I went on a Holland America cruise when I was in college and they definitely aim for relaxing rather than forced partying. It's *amazingly* refreshing to wake up and have *nothing* to do because what can you do when you're miles from land.

HijiNKS ENSUE - A Geek Webcomic : Truth In Advertising

I had a situation once where I saw something that was clearly a vibrator and then found out that while I was correct, it was being used for a medical purpose and not as a hoohah doodad. A buddy of mine screwed up his hand and had to do all sorts of physical therapy to get it back to normal, and he wouldn't tell me what one of the exercises was. Turns out he had to take a vibrator (one of the classy, eggshell white, only vaguely phallic ones) and massage his wrist and hand. Turns out the tip was supposed to make it focus the vibration on the injured spot. He had to go buy it at the local sex toy store...
