Big Government : Is The Right Wing Blogosphere Afraid Of Pigford?

Lee, we all have to pick our battles. Pigford isn't going away. Although it isn't complicated, it is foreign to the main stream. There are details of what led to this that are unknown. In other words, there is background that has to be disseminated before the corruption can be fully understood. Secondly, I echo other commentators that have mentioned race and the easily flung shouts of racism and bigotry that we automatically get if the subject of investigation is a black person, or for that matter, a non-white. We know it isn't true, but we are learning to pick our battles. Cries of racism will never stop from the Left, it is their knee-jerk reaction to any suggestion that a non-white has done something wrong. It won't stop Conservatives for calling out wrongs, mostly because we are learning to ignore the habitual use of the word racism. Pigford isn't going away.

Big Hollywood : I Didn't Quit Drinking to Get High On Hope and Change

24 years. Got sober in Texas and moved to Los Angeles after 19 years. Good grief, what a change. People in meetings just assume everyone is a liberal who hates Bush and Bill O'Reilly. It was a bit of a shocker, but I moved from a Red State to a Blue State so I shouldn't be that surprised. But your observation is right on the money: they embrace the AA principles and customs because they are taught to do so... just as they hate Republicans because they are taught to do so. In my conversations out here, if I bring up a topic, and I don't attach it to politics, most everyone agrees and takes the conservative position. Great column, it made me really think about the last 5 year years in L.A. A.A.

Big Hollywood : Garofalo Still Angry With Americans Who Disagree With Her

Hi, I'm a Liberal Democrat, I think I am better than the average person for no reason whatsoever. I believe in tolerance and think the world would be perfect if everyone just listened to me repeat what I've been told to believe. I believe you are a racist, but I also believe that minorities are not capable of anything without my help (by "my help" I mean the Government). I believe that blindly following brilliant people like Pelosi and Reid and THE ANOINTED ONE... I mean President Obama, is the only way to help all of you average, stupid bumpkins realize you are too stupid to live your life without help (by "help" I mean Government). I am smart. You are a stupid, racist, sexist, homophobic, bigoted, xenophobic, intolerant, uneducated waste of space. (Unless you agree with me, then you're cool). That's why I blindly follow the Democratic Party. They make me feel like I am smarter than you, and I would rather feel smarter, than actually look at facts. That's a waste of time... who has time to read the bill?

This is cut and pasted on many of the Big Hollywood posts today. If anyone believes that drivel I have moved beyond contempt to downright pity. If he was in high school, after a while I would probably go sit with him in the cafeteria... THAT kind of pity.

How long will they fall back on racism when they can't defend Obama? How long before he is not a black President, but THE President of the United States. Obama's race is turning out to be a quite convenient diversion when they want it to be. Like Garafolo says: it's just racism, straight up. I sense a tipping point approaching.

Big Hollywood : Today's Chapter of 'The Wit and Wisdom of Janeane Garofalo'

I'm glad Garofalo is famous. It's people like her that will continue to let people in the middle see how hateful people on the Left can be. The nutjobs will always feel empowered by her opinions, big deal. It's the people in the middle that could start to see how the Left really does hate, really are bigots, really are intolerant and are just sad, unhappy people. She is the perfect spokesperson for the "hope and change" crowd. Contrast her hateful rant against anything that the Left labels as 'hate' from Rush. A second-grader could see which one was hateful. More Garofalo please!

Big Hollywood : What About the 'R-Word'?

I worked in an office where one of the black employees thought I looked similar to an infamous person that was a racist. It wasn't long before he perpetuated his thesis and soon had the other black employees against me. I was so appalled when they all "confronted me" one day screaming in my face "What's your problem"? Of course I had no problem at all. It was all manufactured by one fellow employee. I was shocked and speechless. They were now convinced, based on looks alone, that I was a racist and hated black people. Nothing could be farther from the truth, but I remember the hate in their eyes. My stunned state soon turned to anger, and then pity. Two of the three were fired that day for the scene they caused at the workplace. The third employee eventually was ready to hear my side of the story and felt somewhat duped by his fellow black coworkers. My point is that racial profiling is not a one way street, The Henry Gates outburst is a perfect example.

Amazing. It is almost word for word (with the obvious substitution of "gay" for "Jewish") the responses I got on facebook from all my gay friends. It started with Miss USA, then the outrageous American Idol and finally the California Court decision to maintain marriage between a man and a woman. They are convinced that "America is full of Christian right-wing haters." (Although they are baffled at the degree of "hate" in California since they can't do whatever they want). But forget having a discussion. The certitude in which they declare the country as full of ignorant haters is backed up with proof! "Just look at American Idol for all the proof you need". Hopeless. Great column.

Big Hollywood : Obama's Latest Assault on Conservative Talk

The Democrats don't care about how much money the stations are making! In fact, if they are making too much, it is probably considered an "unfair amount". Quite frankly, they don't really care about "diversity" either. They care about removing the conservative point of view. This isn't conjecture, they have said as much. The mantra is that conservative talk show hosts are "uninformed" and are lacking in "true facts". It would not bother them a bit if conservatives were forced off the air and stations went out of business because of it. It would free up the licenses to award to the minorities so they can promote "diversity". Not diversity in thought, but diversity in skin color. 2010 elections are so important to stop this bleeding. Start working now.

Big Hollywood : Andrew Lloyd Webber and His Amazing Technicolor Tax Logic

Through all of this, let us not forget that 58,421,377 Americans did NOT vote for Obama. All is not lost. The Democratic Party (and it's loyal followers, the Media) keep declaring that the Republican Party is finished, in shambles and has it's head hung down in shame. All because we lost the election (not to mention the House and Senate). 58,421,377 voters still live here. 58,421,377 did not get caught up in the emotion of this past election. 58,421,377 Americans voted for McCain despite the fact that he might not have been the strongest selection for the nomination. All this discussion is necessary, but what is needed is a fierce concentration on the 2010 elections. This powerful one-party grasp that President Obama has is going to do some damage, and we must slow the bleeding in 2010. Talk is good. Action is needed. I am on board.

Big Hollywood : A Republican Platform For The 21st Century

Wait till the Huffpo crowd and the Kos kids get a hold of this. It is a huge, detailed white flag. Since when is knowing right from wrong antiquated and so last century? We lost the election. We have lost before. But we can not forget why we lost. McCain was the candidate, the party was set on fire by Palin and the media systematically destroyed her. The battle is for that middle 20%... the media won. It is not an excuse, it is just a fact. Now you want to say, "Boy oh boy... we got spanked... hey, maybe it's because we're wrong". Puh-leeze. On gay marriage: The Left controls our message. They put it all on "religion". They say we hate gay people, and no one stands up and says otherwise. Good Lord, is it really that difficult? A government can't legislate on feelings or fairness. That is a hard fact of life that the Left wants to skate around. For years - decades - the Left has sold their ideas as "for the children" and we sat by and let them. Now, in a real case of "for the children" we are still saying nothing. We all want equal rights, but they want more than that. They want the word, and all that comes with it. I fully support civil unions, but to say that I don't believe a man has any value in raising a child in a family with two women as parents, or that a woman has no value in a child's development being raised by two men is asking too much from me. I don't hate, I want gay people to be happy. But they keep serving up their favorite question: how would gays being able to marry affect your marriage?. The answer is of course, not at all. But that is not the issue. It really is about the kids this time. I don't want my child being asked if, when they grow up, will they marry a boy or a girl. I want adoption agencies to stay open and not be closed down because legally they will be forced to adopt to gay parents if the definition of marriage is changed. I could go on and on about the reasons that have nothing to do with religion. The problem has been that there is no one standing up and giving rational reasons for our stance. I accept gay rights... I always have. I reject changing the definition of marriage, and that is a separate issue. I am with you on foreign policy. oo-rah... Drug policy too, and of course the great Global Warming scam. Abortion is a hard one. There is no doubt in my mind that it is killing a human. But, I do see your point. However, in the overwhelming majority of cases, we are dealing with very young, very confused and very scared women. I would like to see more mandatory education before the procedure is done. This "black and white" issue has some gray in it. Look, 59,948,240 voters did not vote for the current President. Now, according to you we should all give in and change our beliefs? The political perfect storm was in play with a historic candidate in Barack Obama, a weak Republican candidate in McCain, and a media that embarrassed itself with disgraceful "coverage" and we still got 59,948,240? This is no time to give up or give in. I appreciate the effort, but now it is time to sharpen our message and stay true to what is right and wrong.

Big Hollywood : Celebrity Apprentice: Trump Gets It

I can't believe it, but I am actually following Celebrity Apprentice. I TIVO it. It was a guilty pleasure. But I can come out as a fan now that Eric has given new meaning to the television show. It is about achievement. Period. No worries about gender, ethnicity or sexual orientation... none of that. Achievement is the goal, and as a viewer that is why I got wrapped up in it. It's a competition where everyone starts out with an equal chance of winning. The one who wins, however is the one who works harder, works smarter, and plays the game well. Equal start with no guarantees of success. In fact, the chances of failure are high since there can only be one winner. Forgetting that it is a TV show and surely some of Trumps picks for the axe are based on getting ratings, it is a fair look at how life can be: cruel to most, but satisfying to all if they have tried. So, thanks Eric. Pretty good insight.
