Big Hollywood : 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince': An Alternate View

I agree. The biggest problem with Whiskey's argument is that Harry, Ron, and Hermione are all white, and Harry (a white male) is the main person fighting "the Evil Straight White male" in the end. Whiskey's argument is beyond ludicrous because Rowling makes it a major point to show that Voldemort is not in the least bit recognizably human, he has degraded so that he isn't straight, white, or male: he is simply Evil.

Yeah, come on Zohan. We all know that we have the Bush administration to blame for all of this. We conservatives just aren't as popular...We should just forget what we are seeing, and stop interpreting it for what it is. If we pretend we are in a world of rainbows and hope and change, like the liberals do, we will be just fine under sharia law.

How about trying looking up in your "Library" how long it takes a dictator to show his true colors. Start with Mussolini, Stalin, Castro, and even Hitler (and making this comment doesn't make me a racist). Which of these men took complete control and power in the first year of their rise to power? Fascism doesn't take complete shape in minutes... sorry Bubba.

Big Hollywood : Uncle Sam's First Name Isn't 'Daddy'

The right to marry someone of the same gender is not a civil right. It is an act of choice. Saying that it is a civil right is like saying that it is the right of every citizen to be given a car. It isn't an inalienable right. If you offer the right to gay marriage you have to offer the right to polygamists to practice what they believe and feel appropriate. Does that make clear enough sense for you Antie? If you give to one, you have to give to all.

This is just over the top. Why people even listen to Newsweek and/or Time (aka Obama Magazine) is beyond me. The rubbish that is classified as so called "news" to these people is nothing more than mindless dribble on the toilet seat of Washington. This man disgusts me.

It really doesn't matter what kind of butt kissing "The One" does, they still hate America. At least while Bush was President the terrorists were afraid, now the "The One" and the media pretend they don't exist--what are they called now, "man-made disaster causers" or some BS like that.

Hey greasy... It is great that we signed the Convention Against Torture, too bad we have a document that trumps it: the Constitution. One of the government's primary jobs is to protect the citizens of the country, so if that means forgetting a treaty against torture--and I say IF because torture isn't defined--then the major responsibility is the safety of the people. Also, as blainemono has pointed out, Al-Qaeda doesn't really meet the proper requirements or conditions for these things.

Not to mention the libs themselves, we conservatives have no feelings... or maybe we just don't get whiny about someone saying things that we don't agree with. Had President Bush made a joke about the Special Olympics, he would have been roasted alive for 'Hurting someone's feelings,' but when "The One" does, it is just a joke.
I have a full keyboard as well. It makes things feel more fluid, though I am about to the point that I would love nothing more than to throw the stupid phone out the window. That way people will stop bugging me about dumb things via text message. I only tolerate it at the moment because my wife likes to make sure that I am alright.

Eric, I can't say that I agree more with you. I am an English major and firmly believe that twitter and texting are killing the English language. I try to avoid texting if I can, though when I do I always punctuate -- I am probably the only human being alive who does, drives my wife crazy sometimes... but I digress.
Big Hollywood : A Conservative Journey Through Literary America - Part 4: The New Formalism

"Although it may cause discomfort to neo-conservatives, we live in a world of many cultures, many voices; our poetries are enriched by otherness…" If Sadoff is so concerned with "otherness," why doesn't he try going to another country and experiencing it? May I suggest China where a mere suggestion that people should not focus on tradition could send him to prison for many years. That is one of the greatest things about America, we can choose to pay attention to other cultures as little or as much as we want. His argument is pretty weak though, as a big part of the new formalist movement focuses on traditional literature that in a way helped shape Western Culture. It isn't our fault that it worked so well and that the west has been successful. That was God's doing.
