To be honest, I'm not sure any of the girls that I went to high school with who are now elementary school teachers are capable of calculating "percent" without a tutor or a computer program to step them through it. That's gotta be a factor in our children's innumeracy (and also explains why minimizing the use of numbers to concentrate on the "social justice" garbage is so appealing to "educators.")
