See Gordo, liberals determined that people weren't buying the whole "It's George Bush's fault!" thing anymore so they decided to switch tactics and go after Reagan. They did this because frankly most of their most rabid followers are too young to remember much about Reagan so they can tell them what to think on the subject more easily that way. I actually have read posts waxing poetical about the policies of Carter of all people. It's a strange and surreal world we're living in. It's pretty pathetic. Even more pathetic is how many times over the past week or two I've seen "Ronnie Raygun" or some variation on that theme, it wasn't all that funny the first time someone said, it let alone almost 30 years later. What's next, Flock of Seagulls hairdos and signing off their posts with "Gag me with a spoon?" Calling Sarah Palin "Grody?" Hell maybe they'll invite Wang Chung to the White House to play for one of the cocktail parties next. Nah that would actually be kind of cool.

I've heard some of their stuff, went looking for it in part from Sammy appearing on Red Eye not all that long ago. It's not bad, not bad at all. It reminds me a bit of early Van Halen jammed together with Bad Company and a dash of Alice in Chains...but in a good way.

In one of the movies didn't they have models or pictures of all the different ships through history that were called HMS/USS Enterprise as well? Either in one of the "lounge" (heh) areas or maybe Kirk's cabin? I forget the details but I seem to recall that.

Agreed, it was a military vessel not some NASA-ish sort. A Consitution class Heavy Cruiser in fact, I don't even like Star Trek all that much but I learned that from osmosis and a really talkative roommate I had in college. I saw the parallel sort of to the age of sail, when military vessels often carried some scientists along, and they explored, but also were prepared to lay the smackdown on any threat since communications lag meant every ship's captain was an instrument of national will and policy to an extent. An example being the HMS Terror expedition, which while a scientific mission, was under Royal Navy control and used a modified bombardment vessel. Which still carried arms and operated under military discipline. And I still think would make a damn fine movie too.
