No one is ahead of us technologically. I don't even think we are losing ground, yet. Unfortunately greed and stupid people will take their toll when the cuts come back fully. It used to be the military headlining the technology. The microwave, the internet, the computer chip. Now the commercial sector is in the lead, and it seems the military can't afford to keep up and through greed and kickbacks will be severly hampered from doing so. Wow, I could post so many situations and provide so many more points about this subject but I'll just summarize my opinion.

Thankfully some diehards are keeping us in the front with weapons tech. such as fighters, bombers, missile systems, although simplier weapons systems such as better assault rifles and body armor are being cast aside for less efficient items thanks to the buddie sitting on the board of directors who will charge double the cost and put in half the effort because he knows he can't lose.

I have disagree slightly. If the trend keeps going the way it is, and if liberals stay in charge, I wouldn't doubt completely in the future that acts that are horrific such as "honor killings" and "Suicide bombing in the name of Jihad" will be considered by the enlighten liberal elites as the muslim practicing its religion and therefore free to operate without the U.S. law's interference. Sounds ridiculous I know, but when a country sends it's own soldiers to jail for the rest of their life because of doing what they were trained to do and then frees terrorists on the basis of thier civil rights, rights they denied many others, I see that as very close to the "inevitable decline" of this country's moral foundations. And with out those can we really call ourselves Americans as we think of ourselves to be?
