To the media wiki folder. Actually, "NETWORK SERVICE" works better, from what I've seen "iusr_{servername}" inherits the permissions for that group. Either way, make sure you apply full read access to one or both of those user accounts.

If that doesn't work, check the php_errors.log file specified in the php.ini file for errors.

FYI, I posted a bug on the MSE part of Connect, to "leave support for WHS in". It got closed today, as "by design". So I'm "going on a limb" here and saying that support for both versions of WHS may actually happen. :)

It's not officially compatible. However, it does install. Which the officially versions throw a "invalid OS" error.

Any AV on WHS should exclude those folders. Period.
The reason for the "c:\fs\" and "D:\de" folders is that these are the "behind the scenes" Drive extender folders, and messing with these files will cause issues on the shares. But deleting files from the shares will cause the files to be deleted elsewhere.

And the backup database often throws false positives, which is why you want to exclude it.

exclude these folders:
c: \fs, d: \de and d: \folders \{00008086-058d-4c89-ab57-a7f909a47ab4}

Unfortunately, I belive VS2005 is blocked from being installed on Vail. So it means VMWare or the like only on Vail, or using HyperV Server 2008R2 with Vail as a guest... :(

No it doesn't. There is no Hyper-V Role for Vail. Period. And there will never be. Short of hacking it in. If it's possible.

Well, it's not that the WPI team didn't know what the problem was or how to fix it for WHSv1 (jim clark and I took care of that... till they stopped responding to us). So it really feels more like they chose not to support WHSv1, which makes me kinda feel like they probably won't support Vail either.

And right now, it's basically a switch they need to set. If you try to get WPI working, it will install, but only one package will show up. If you use a "install via WPI" link in MS-IE, that's the only way you'll get the "Operating System not supported" dialogue box. Took me a while to figure that out too.

But ATM moment, Vail is not supported by WPI, and we'll have to wait and see if they change their mind.
