I agree with you, Janke's review was terrible, and completely off the mark. I love this show, it's a psychological thriller with a lot of nuances, which makes it too complex for most people to understand and appreciate. It was more plausible than 24, and it's about as anti American as apple pie.

WIth respect Christian, but what is the point of this piece? But I expect candidates running for the highest office in the country to be exceedingly smarter than celebs. A celeb making a gaffe or two during an awards show cannot be compared to Bachmann or Palin. I understand people here like to make celebrity bashing a daily sport, but it's a bit hypocritical when you consider the many high profile conservatives/ republicans actors who critized Obama AND also made gaffes at award shows. The recent debates serve as proof that candidates running for office make endless gaffes far exceeding the ones made by slightly intoxicated celebs at awards shows. That is far more troubling!

There is nothing more I could add to Maatkare 's review. This is a beautiful, evocative, charming, whimsical, joyous, homage to silent movies....it must be experienced! Berenice is luminescent! And Auggie , the Jack Russell Terrior won the 2011 Palm Dog Award! Really! He deserves an honorary Oscar. I predict this movie will sweep The Golden Globes, and garner the most Oscar nominations, and by fiat, the most Oscars! PERFECTION!

As soon as it wins the Oscar for Best Picture. And when it does win, it will be the first time in 83 years that a silent film wins!

FYI - St Vincent de Paul of Lane County is a massive Non profit that gets funding from foundations who are conservative and support our veterans. That funding would have come to an end. Clearly Terry McDonald realized that the bad publicity, along with massive cuts in gov't funding, jeopardized his bottom line. Personally I don't care what motivated his change of heart, I m just glad the "issue was resolved"

Umm the problem has been resolved: Tenant’s Personal Flag Will Be Displayed at Apartments

St. Vincent de Paul has received a lot of attention today regarding a tenant who was asked to stop hanging a flag from the side of the apartment complex without permission. We would like to share the following updated information.

On Friday Mr. Zivica provided a list of dates when he would like to fly his flag. St. Vincent de Paul immediately agreed that a second flag should be hung on those dates. Our tenant feels this issue is resolved and has expressed his satisfaction to us and the local news.

Some additional information:

This was never an issue about patriotism or respect for veterans. St. Vincent de Paul sponsors numerous emergency assistance, housing and job training opportunities for veterans.
This was never about the American flag; a lit American flag flies on a flagpole at the complex 24/7.
We are pleased that this issue has been resolved and we sincerely apologize for the misunderstanding.

FACT: It was the LIBERAL LA Weekly blogger Simone Wilson who promptly announced that the "Warzone 'It Girl'" had been "raped repeatedly" Fact: I can't find anything from YOU anywhere online in which you accuse ...err ask "Wasn't Liberal Blogger SIMONE WILSON the one who kept reporting...err LYING that Lara Logan had been raped repeatedly! Paging @Canuck Grit Get a clue you asshat. You're an embarrassment to Canadians of which I am by birth.
FACT: Quoting Lara Logan "For an extended period of time, they RAPED me with their hands." FACT: The mob of 200 Egyptian men were Muslims. FACT: members of her film crew heard people in the crowd talking about wanting to take Ms Logan's pants off.

FACT: The definition of RAPE is the unlawful compelling of a person through physical force or duress to have sexual intercourse. ( As someone who has spent time in Egypt I can tell you that these men were not trying to remove her pants to see if she was wearing Victoria Secret)

FACT: The term sexual assault is used, in public discourse, as a generic term that is defined as any involuntary sexual act in which a person is threatened, coerced, or forced to engage against their will, or any sexual touching of a person who has not consented. This includes rape!

First: ESPN has a long history of being nothing more than a big sexist frat house --- and I m being nice when I describe it that way... it almost seems harmless but it isn't. ESPN history is replete with unpleasant people and awful behavior -- this is just par for the course --- kind of like Eric Boehlert's life.

Setting The Record Straight --- A Cutline reader points out that in 2008, CNN did, in fact, co-host a Democratic primary debate with a progressive group--the Congressal Black Caucus Political Education and Leadership Institute, in South Carolina. So much for the false claim "CNN didn’t team up with political progressives, who helped shape the 2008 presidential campaign, during that election cycle"
