EclipseMagazine : TELEVISION TECHNOLOGY: Five Ways to Improve Tivo's Service

Why do you even go into the Deleted folders folder? It's like the trash bin on a Windows or MAC PC. It's there as a safe guard but in no way limits the amount of recording space available to you. Unlike the PC trash can that must be manually deleted from time to time, The TiVo trash can needs no user intervention. There is no down side to it at all. The interface does need a face lift and TiVo is working on one. I too have wanted picture in picture when navigating the menus. Almost every day I mutter to myself that its not there. But otherwise I couldn't disagree with you more. TiVo is so simple a senior citizen can use it. I otta know, my parents are in their 70s and can use it. It's one of the most intuitive interfaces out there. I love it. You are used to the way other services work. I imagine that in a month or so after you get used to it, you'll never want to live without it. ...Dale

For those outside of the U.S. that want to download this App, you can using Hotspot Shield's VPN servers. It takes only a couple minutes to set up I describe how to do it here: http://www.daleisphere.com/how-to-get-u-s-only-ip... ...Dale

Thanks so much Ed. I have updated the post to add screen shots on the new reliability monitor and how to find it. I'm still disappointed that, like the 'Create Restore Point' utility, there is no way to pin system tools like these to the start menu or the task bar. These are tools I use all the time and want quick access too. Happily they can be pinned to the 'Quick Launch' bar for those who use it.

The Daleisphere : Video Game-induced Nausea, Dizziness and Headaches

I'm glad you find the site interesting Ann. I do not think inverting the Y axis will work for you though unless that's your normal orientaiton. If you usually play with the non-inverted Y axis, inverting it will likely make you sicker. The reason it makes me sick is because I'm used to playing EVERY game with an inverted Y axis. When I can't invert, then my brain is working the opposite way that the game forces me to move - creating instant nausea. I'd be really curious if you find a "cure". I never have. There are any number of terrific games I just had to abandon because they made me too sick to play.

Nathan ... I too get sick while reading in a car (but not a plane). I wonder if that is another common thread between all of us that get queasy in some video games. Good point.

Pepe, the screen might actually be relevent. I never thought of it until now. I bought a plasma HDTV about 4 years ago and games do not bother me as much as they used to. I had thought it was that games and frame-rates had improved, but part of it could also be a MUCH better screen.

My guess is that inverting the Y axis will make things worse for you. I note that when a controller does not act how I expect it too, that causes me to get nauseous quicker. One of the reasons I started this thread was in response to the inability to invert the Y-axis to my preference (see above). When my brain thinks/expects the screen to go one way and it goes the other way ... the stomach almost instantly starts to churn.

Jangro.com: Affiliate Marketing, SEO, Web Development : Back in the Disqus-sion

So, you obviously junked Disqus for Intense Debate. As I type this comment you are using ID. Why the switch back? Are you using WP 2.7 yet? It appears that you lost all the threading in your conversion back to ID. It was my understanding that under 2.7, switching back and forth between Disqus and ID would retain threading. Curious minds want to know. ...Dale

Jangro.com: Affiliate Marketing, SEO, Web Development : Comment Systems Review Redux

For anyone that is interested, I wrote a rather detailed 'how-to' type post on how to add Intense Debate into a Wordpress 2.7 blog: http://www.daleisphere.com/how-to-install-intense... While I obviously like it (wouldn't have installed it if I didn't). I have a few issues so far: - My template's css isn't working and the comments are flush left on my blog - I don't like the default Intense Debate avatar. It's kind of dull and grey. In WP. 2.6/2.7 you can choose a set of changing and colorful detailed default avatars. I'd really like to see this changed. - I don't like that I can't force users to enter an email address. This has resulted in MUCH more anonymous spam than before. - I would REALLY love for there to be some cross-community features between ID, Disqus and others so that commenter reputations, histories, profiles etc. work across all comment systems. I love the competition but don't much like the 'comment islands unto themselves' created by this competition. - I had significant problems getting the installation to work on two of my three blogs, even with the latest 2.0.18 plugin. But the support team was marvelous and really helped out (over weekends and even on New Years Eve). So BIG thumbs up to the support/development team (Jon and Austin in particular) for going the extra mile to get the wrinkles worked out. - the 'IntenseDebate Enhanced Moderation' option screws up the comment moderation page in my Wordpress 2.7 dashboard. It makes the page only a few inches long instead of the entire length of my open browser. So, I have that option unchecked for now. - most of my commenters are NOT ID users, so it's a bit of a waste land for now. I'm hoping some will choose to sign up. - would be nice if there were some formatting options for the users (so they can underline, make bullet lists etc.). I'm looking forward to seeing how this all works out. ...Dale
