Perhaps saying that they are the only ones who mourn is to strong a statement. It might have been better to say that Chimpanzees are the only species to mourn as we do and to care for the dead as we do. Chimpanzees have been known to groom the dead. This is not something other animals do. They also protect the dead from outsiders, you might call these behaviors almost funeral like. The picture above shows how human like their reactions are.

You should try it. Currently, men are discriminated against at these competitions. You could be the guy that breaks through the stereo types.

The reason I've heard that we don't have any atheist Charities is simple, because we don't call them atheist. I think that is the problem. Maybe we should organize more and get on the radar? Maybe start a few major and supported charities with the words Atheist or Secular in them?

Heck, we should write a bible too. :)

Thanks for the comment. While I do agree that many religious people and churches have a very... Checkered history (Being Nice). I think that you could say that about any organization/institution. The only real problem I have religions is its use as a control. You could argue that those controls are what created the advanced society that we currently live in. I don't see religion as this random thing that gets in the way. Remember that we are the only animals that evolved into having abstract thinking, including religions. Because of this, you could argue that religion is the reason we are so intelligent, of course that is a type of chicken and the egg kind of question. Maybe we have evolved to a point where we don't need them anymore, but I know there are many who would disagree with us, and that proves by itself that we have not. Thanks again for your comment.
