My husband and I got our permits together and, along with my father-in-law (a retired state trooper), we have been educating ourselves on gun use and ownership. I encourage more women and couples to do the same. Don’t give honest gunowners a bad name by not knowing how to use and store them, and don’t expect your husband to be home if someone attacks. Arm yourself with tools and knowledge.

Glenn Beck is right on women and guns. I have been a victim of 4 crimes over a 5 year period. First, a sexual assault, then a theft, then harassment, and then yet another harassment. You might think that these are somewhat related….they were totally random, and I lived in the suburbs (supposedly in the eighth safest town).

After my daughters were born, I became increasingly uneasy about how crime was dealt with. No knock on the police….some of them want to do their job…..but the government and all of those public statistics has their hands tied and they are reluctant to even take a police report. I then realized that if I had to rely on the government to defend me, that I was giving the criminals all of the power. Sometimes the police just can’t get there in time, and if they did, they may not do the whole “protect and serve” thing. And then if I send my husband to “take care of business” then he’s the one that might get arrested. Interesting? No. Ridiculous.
