The rest of the world has not forgotten the Mediterranean Sea attacks, but for that to matter the rest of the world needs to show that they matter. Sure, they whine and protest about Israel's behavior, then everything goes on as normal. Same for the Dubai assassination incident. Things will be smoothed over and then, again, business as normal. And suppose they do move Netanyahu out, will anything really change? Will AIPAC suddenly become more benevolent? I've lost all hope. It's probably time for me to move on and quit reading anything regarding world affairs or politics because it is so depressing.

News From Antiwar.com : Taliban Attacks Kill 12 NATO Soldiers, Eight of Them Americans

It is sometimes said that good people go to Washington and are corrupted by the establishment. I don't believe that. Crooked people run in elections because they are eager to get in on the bounty that comes their way as long as they toe the establishment line. It is sickening, and it's only going to get worse.

I really like this piece because when I first saw the hyped up reports of enormous mineral wealth in Afghanistan the first thought in my mind was; why, then, is the country so poor. I guess since Afghans are constantly having to ward off invaders they have no time to do some mining.

There is truth to your statement regarding our "mercenary army." Anyone who enlists in this day and age knows they will be fighting somewhere in the Mid East/Persian/SW Asia amphitheater. I believe it is also true that the real unemployment rate in the US, not the one you see and hear in the MSM, but the actual rate, is nipping at the heels of the 25% - 30% we had during the great depression. The Pentagon and it's crony neocons could not have asked for better timing.

News From Antiwar.com : RNC Chair: Afghanistan 'a War of Obama's Choosing'

It's about time, Mr. Steele. Maybe, just maybe, the time has come when the political establishment realizes the Afghan failure cannot be hidden from the US citizenry any longer. Obama had a difficult time getting his 33 billion emergency funds to continue the Afghan war passed in Congress. Now the longest war in US history, and frank statements from Generals that we still aren't winning. Afghan war can now be used as a political weapon against Obama. Yes Mr. Steele, it's about time.

I didn't refute your original response and you are correct about the Constitution, and I was wrong. Okay, that is settled. Marbury vs. Madison in 1803, maybe you are familiar with it already. Get my drift....? Back to my response, your posting style is indeed droll. I should have made my intent more clear. Try posting with fellow posters on an equal level instead of always posting down to them. Maybe you don't care, though.

Antiwar.com Original Articles : Supreme Mediocrity

Just a general comment: I am glad to see an article that focuses on the judiciary and the role it has played in our gradual slide into a police state. One of the reasons the judicial branch was created was to protect the citizenry from the over reach of the executive and legislative branches of government, which the founding fathers knew would happen. They, the judiciary, are a dismal failure and this article illustrates this in a most insightful way.

Antiwar.com Original Articles : Switch to Petraeus Betrays Afghan Policy Crisis

Petraeus is considered Presidential material by many conservatives. Since the outcome of American military defeat in Afghanistan is a done deal, I have to wonder if this is what he really wants. Maybe he will do what is considered impossible for a neocon and negotiate a quick end and fast exit for our troops.
