My ex-girlfriend worked as an assistant in a high-end salon here in LA. Robin Wright Penn went there. By all accounts she was a lovely, friendly person. But my ex said she would come in on occasion wearing large sunglasses to cover her black eyes. No one said anything but everyone was aware of it. Just sayin'. Spanky, you make very good points. However I live in LA and there is zero accountability for teachers in the public school system here. None. Also, the union mentality is insane here.

I'm not making this up; there is a car wash across the street from my office in the middle of Hollywood. Occasionally there are picketers in front of the car wash demanding that the car wash go union. Can you even wrap your brain around that? I can't. Well, they were out this morning, shouting on their bullhorns demanding, I can only assume, vacation pay for drying off cars as they roll off an automated conveyor belt. Their noise was genuinely distracting, enough for me to call the LAPD non-emergency line to complain. They're quiet now. Sorry to bust up your party, ya' bunch of jagoffs!

He IS a bully, James. Plain and simple. I would loooooove for him to take a swing at me. I would even let him connect as he'd probably break his girly hand on my jaw.

I was telling my fiance just the other day that when we have kids there is no way we are ever sending them to a public school. Even the smartest, most discerning kid is prone to believe what their teachers tell them simply because the teacher is an authority figure by design.

The last thing I want is some union member, socialist dim-wit indoctrinating my child.
