Latino Review, The Latin Perspective on all movies and pop culture : News: Debunked: Kickinger NOT CONAN! | Latino Review

This is why there's no such thing as news anymore. One place claims something, and the strongest that another outlet can claim against it is that they have "a super secret source" that swears it isn't true. It's sandbox, he-said-she-said, hung jury-style nonsense. And you wonder why a story still isn't true until the trades say it is.

/Film : Early Buzz: The First Review of Bruno

This is something that's been bugging me recently. Is it really a spoiler? Does something like that "spoil" a movie? Back in the day, a spoiler was a key detail that ruined a movie, like certain details from Sixth Sense or who the murderer was in The Mouse Trap. Knowing that there's a song at the end of Bruno is not a spoiler. I'm pretty sure the movie will be just as funny knowing it or not. Or am I wrong here?

/Film : VOTD: Every Week on Entourage

And yet the video skips over the fact that it's the only television show in history to have zero conflict and yet stay entertaining. Because looking at shiny things (and boobs) is always, always interesting. It will be studied in film classes and writing classes for generations to come. Mark my words. Mark them... Also, Seth MacFarlane has a solid bit about it in his Calvalcade of Cartoon Comedy.

/Film : Which Path Will Orci, Kurtzman and Lindelof Choose For Star Trek 2?

I have a feeling that it'll involve time travel, some sort of demon made of dark polluted air, and a landmass surrounded entirely by water. Get it! Just like in Cloverfield!

Film School Rejects : Shia LaBeouf Fuels Fanboy Rage with 'Indiana Jones 5' Talk

I've been thinking a lot lately about Indiana Jones - probably because all of my friends abandoned me, and I've had some free time - but I think the key to KotCS's failure was that the last Indy we saw was an incredibly moving flick. Last Crusade was poetic, dealt with father issues, dealt with eternity, dealt with living the right way, and it was fun as hell to boot. It seems with KotCS and now the future of the franchise, they are going for pure popcorn fluff instead of a joyride with a few stops at character-development junction and deeper-meaning station. Also, commies make terrible villains compared to Nazis. Oh, no! They have a different form of government that they use! Holy God no! Boring.

Film School Rejects : DVD's I Bought This Week: June 16th

A few questions: 1. Does the Seventh Seal transfer look good? Better or worse than previous versions? 2. I'm confused - is "The Important Thing is to Love" another "Friday the 13th" installment? 3. You summered at Blood Fart Lake two years ago. How can I be sure that isn't just your vacation reel?

Film School Rejects : Relax: 20 Films From the 80s That Aren't Being Remade

Not to quibble either! But the hymn you're thinking of is Jerusalem, and it was adapted from the William Blake poem "And did those feet in ancient time" (written in 1804 and set to music as a hymn in 1916). It's also sung extensively in episodes of Monty Python. Thanks for allowing me the chance to show off my bombastic 19th century British poetry knowledge. I almost never get to do that sort of thing around here. Huzzah!

Film School Rejects : Discuss: Should Special Features Be Exclusive Only To Blu-ray?

I get the feeling that the early-adopters of any tech these days think they are somehow unique for being first and also in the majority. There definitely aren't enough Blu-ray users to push this sort of agenda just yet - maybe in three years or so. I was talking with a friend's father at a party this week who said he had just bought an HD DVD player. He'll have to buy a Blu-ray player in a few years, but until those discs slide down to $15-$20 bucks a pop, the general public won't give a shit. They also won't give a shit about special features. Most people rent and buy movies for, I know seriously, the movie. Shocking.

Film School Rejects : Review: Away We Go

Couldn't agree more with the review. This movie is fantastic, genuinely moving, and it lacks any and all pretense that's usually all over indie comedies like Fure on a box of Whisterol. It's like a non-annoying version of Juno. Or like a poignant, well-acted version of North.

Film School Rejects : This week's Reject Report takes on Travolta and Denzel

Eddie Murphy comedies are pretty unpredictable though. It could be like Meet Dave and grab $5 million opening weekend or like Norbit and take $34 million opening weekend. Although, Imagine That looks like the first attempt at solidly hitting that generic family market - single dad learning how to be a father, that his daughter is the most important thing in his life - sounds pretty standard. Might bring in a large amount of families this weekend who don't want R-rated comedy, have heard that Land of the Lost is sort of crude, and don't want their kids to hear the F-bomb 49 times in Pelham.
