Solution:

Come to CPAC, meet the bloggers and get them to write about it. Provide them a quick fact sheet, etc. Should you have to do this? No. But, will it likely work...yes.

But, a major reason is the feeling of powerlessness. If this story is talked about...many people don't know what they can do to take action. With other policy areas, people can call their congressman or protest, etc.

The question is what deference is given to individuals to make their own decisions, and which intellectuals have anointed themselves as the best decision makers as third-parties for the whole of society.

He addresses that in the introduction. He concedes that Milton Friedman and others like him are intellectuals, however, their ideas are such an anomaly that he clarifies that he was observing the "anointed vision."

It depends where you read what he actually said. To the best of my knowledge, he wanted people to donate directly to private charity and not the government. I think that is good advice.
