Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : Vent

That Brian Johnson from Americans SCAB workers has it all wrong. The average union worker that pays attention does not mind one bit when his or her union uses dues for political action. One of the most valued aspects of being a member of a well orginized work force is to have the ability to stand toe to toe with some of the most powerful elected officials and corp. in the world. You need money to either protect or push the ideas that will hopefully improve the standard of living for the members the union represents.

This is terrible! Think about how many american jobs are going to be created if G.M. and Chrysler can get back on track. I am not saying I agree with gov. meddling in private co. but you guys saying you want them to fail is sad. If this does not work even more folks will get laid off .More homes will be lost . More city's will vanish. This is the kind of narrow minded thinking that will further our problems as a nation. I just might go by a Chevy tomorrow, just to spite these rotten ideas!

Why are all the conservative talking heads blaming the workers in the auto industry for causing the fall of the car co. ? You me to tell me because some guy makes a wage that allows him to buy a two or three bedroom house in some suberb outside Flint. Or send a couple of kids to MSU,that that is the reson why the auto co. has failed. Could it be the sin of a company offering health care to his family. Or the pention he earned over 30 or 40 years of service. That brings me to legacy cost. They should make Beck call the retired auto worker and tell him his pention and health care are gone! Tell him he now has to sell the house that he raised his family in. Buy the way that house is worth half of what it was 2 years ago.TELL HIM HE HAS TO MOVE IN WITH HIS KIDS! If republicans had there way that is what would happen to the retired auto worker. Nice reward for working for a living... AINT IT!

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : News From You

You have some good points. Of coarse you are speaking from a companies point of view. I believe most of the problems you speak of are in manufacturing. I am a union construction worker.I have done non union construction work and union work. My work ethic and the union have been the best thing to happen to my families quality of life in a while. The only thing protecting my trade and my wages from being completly overrun with illegal immigrants is my union. If contractors could pay undocumented workers sub standard wages they would. IN FACT they do it all the time.

I agree with most of Glens opinions. I think he gets very emotional at times but that usually breeds honesty. His ideas about the direction of the country is usually based on a good idea. I do disagree strongly on his hard stance against organized labor. In my opinion ,other than the usual stories of corruption that can take part in any sector of american life labor unions are the last place for a blue collar worker to make a livable wage and be able to earn the right to a proud retirement.

That is a very fair wage for a teacher in Fla. When I go to my kids open house in northern n.j. the teacher with the same degree and years on the job is making 100,000 a year.

There is very little union trade labor building homes. The housing projects you speak of are overrun with illegal migrant workers. The workers and the irresponsible contactors that hire them is the reason why I was making a substandard wage. It is because of my union and our right to collective bargain I have the opp. to work hard and in turn earn a wage my family can live on. The union and the laws that protect them is the only reason why contractors cannot hire unskilled illegal aliens to build the bridges and roads americans travel every day.

If I get fired and I feel as if I was "wrongly terminated" I will get my unions lawyer to represent me for free. By the the way as a non- union construction worker i made 15hr. with health care for myself. As a union constuction worker I make 31hr. with health care for a family of four. Not to mention paid vac.,pention and an anuity. I think thats a good deal for any Century.
