There is much more going on in the Middle East in regards to having "the backbone to pull the trigger" than most Americans know. The media only presents the negative actions in the Middle East taken by US solders, not the positives. My husband has been in the military for many years and is currently in Iraq. Not one of the positives that he has been involved in is spoken of. GWB had the backbone, I supported him and his decisions 100%; although I may has disagreed with some of them, his eye was on the ball. Unfortunately, due to the propaganda of the media assisted by ACORN, CODE PINK, and other left wing extremists, we now have BHO who has no clue! And yes, BHO is only concerned about himself. His "appeasing the International Community and debasing our constitution" is nothing but a popularity contest move. The Observer stated prior to going to the G20 that “Holding high-powered meetings with world leaders will allow Obama to remind Americans how much the rest of the world still admires him.” That one statement alone says it all.
I must say, the stance in your first posting is much different that the response to my posting. I agree with you opinion of our US officials in your second posting, as well as your point on the US/Mexico Border and assessment of corrupt politicians. So why? I ask you, the statement of energy dependence?
Yes, our elected officials are more concerned about their jobs then our safety; but the basis of the current situation in Iraq and Afghanistan is our safety following 9-11. Not energy dependence. I feel that the situation with the southern border of the United States is 100% a popularity contest. Our elected officials will not stand up against illegal immigration due to the fact that we have been infiltrated by thousands if not millions of illegal’s whom have found loopholes in our citizenship and voting rights in order to have a strangle hold on our elections. If you "piss off" the masses (being the illegals) you don't get elected. (See next comment.)
We care about the stability of the Middle East because of our safety. The left has convinced you through their Al Gore/Eco-Terriorism ways that oil is the problem. Do you not remember the first bombing of the World Trade Center, or the bombing of the USS Cole? Kidnapping for Ransom of handfuls of US citizens in the Middle East, and most of all 9-11??? The Middle East is a hot bed of terroism training camps, financing, and breeding grounds of hate. These are the reasons we care about the stability in the Middle East. If oil was the one and only reason, the leaders of the US Government would have started drilling in Alaska and the Central Plains of the United States as well as increased drilling in Texas. You need to do your homework and read up on the scientific facts. And furthermore, recognize the sales pitch of propoganda.
And yet again comradeobama, your ignorance and lack of education is phenomenal! If you would open your dictionary, that is if you own one, the definition of terrorism is: S: (n) terrorism, act of terrorism, terrorist act (the calculated use of violence (or the threat of violence) against civilians in order to attain goals that are political or religious or ideological in nature; this is done through intimidation or coercion or instilling fear). Piracy is terrorism in every sense of the word; they just have the means to execute their terrorist acts at sea.
I live in rural Eastern Oregon, we're already there! I'm a farmer, I exchange farm work for hay to be feed to horses, cows, and goats; I exchange seamstressing for trapping services on my hay fields; and I recently paid for a semester of preschool with alfalfa hay! In addition, I grow my own vegitables, butcher my own pigs and beef, eat my own chickens eggs, and ride horses to my neighbors houses. Not because I can't afford to buy these things, or fill my tank with diesel (my husband and I make a very very good income) but because we don't have to spend that money! Our children are learning the value of a dollar (which isn't much right now), work ethic, and how to be self-sufficient! I know you can't live this way we do in the middle of a big city, but just remember, those who do live this way do very well, and furthermore, LIVE HAPPILY!
Ok, I have two things to say (Please refer to the appropriate response to your definition of "Trash"): 1) if your referring to the "trash" on this site being our discussions, screw you, go play with your liberal counterparts who want our nation to become the North American equivalent to Europe, distroy our freedoms, and do it all under the arguement "Freedom of Speech!" 2) If your referring to panic coming from local communities printing their own currency and in turn ruining the dollar, I have news for you, the dollar is already ruined, this local economies are doing all they can to stay afloat and keep their local residents employeed, food on their tables, and clothes on their back. Panic is a result of propaganda; this is not propaganda, you can go to CNN and NBC for that. Now, if response 1) did not apply to you, I'm glad, I didn't mean to read into your comment incorrently. If response 1) did apply to you, I meant every word I said! :0)
You can purchase taxed items with them! Your taxed, don't think this is a TAX FREE system. When you purchase items at your local store (clothing, food, appliances, gas etc...) a percentage of your total is added in the form of a tax. The same thing happens with local script, its just a little less tax. Example: US Dollar Total Grocery Bill $84.92 + tax of $5.09 (6% tax for example purposes) total US Dollar is $90.02. Now, the Local Currency Total: US Dollar Grocery Bill $84.92 - 5% Local Currency Conversion Discount($4.25) = $80.67 + tax of $4.84 (6% tax for example purposes) total Local Currency Converstion is $85.51. You still pay a 6% tax rate on your purchase, but you have saved $4.51. An added bonus is that your paying less taxes to the state government for their wasteful spending purposes!
And this same idea is being used today as Albertsons Preferred Customer Savings, Staples Cash Back Rewards, and Associated Foods Preferred Shopper Points just to name a few!
I think your all right, in one way or another. True: the consitution states that the US Government is the only entity to print the US Dollar. True: local "currency" is the equivalent of Gift Cards. True: This practice keeps business local and provides the income that local businesses need to stay in business to keep people employed. I personally think this is a wonderful "out of the box" solution to current local economy difficulties. Cities and Towns are not forcing the residents to operate under local currency, nor elimitating the US Dollar in their economies. They are simply offering a discount program. The people are paid in US Dollar, they then choose to exchange it for their local currency or spend it as US Dollar cash. The bank is taking in the cash which they can then lend in the form of cash loans; and the customer is saving 5% of their purchases. I'm going to my city council members to talk about starting the program in my hometown! Now this is action toward a solution, the solution being a more successful economy.
I have an idea of one way to show Obama how we feel about his takeover of General Motors. To begin with I want to state that I wish no emotional and economic harm or stress to current employees of the General Motors Corp., but the time has come that we have to make our voices heard. I am proposing a national boycott of GM products and services in protest to the new government controled company. You do not have to own or buy a GM vehicle to participate. General Motors manufactures more products than just cars and pickups. AC Delco (Parts & Accessories), GMAC (finance company), and all GM brand products are produced by General Motors.
