Jeff, thanks for the comment. It will be interesting to see how they use social media in conjunction with their new Japanese website. It seems they are keen to explore the possibilities of more regional social networks so I'd imagine social media will play a big part in the success of the Japanese site.

Hi Gianni,
Thanks for the comment.
Social media is still very much taking off here in the UK and currently only a handful of clubs are really involved in social media - Liverpool (who you can read about here: http://www.theuksportsnetwork.com/?p=133), Everton, Sunderland and of course Man City to name a few.
I hope this year will see more Premier League teams starting to pay attention to and get involved with social media. We'll be sure to keep this blog up-to-date with all the latest developments from the sports and social media industry here in the UK - so keep checking back.
Thanks for reading,
Ash.

Simon,
Thanks for your comment and thanks for pointing out the mix up with the fans/followers, I've now corrected that.
I'm a big fan of the new City website, and in terms of usability it's probably the best in the Premier League. I also like the way in which they display the fans' point of view and both Twitter and Flickr feeds on the homepage.
As a City fan is there anything else you would like to see the club offer through their social media use? And are there any aspects of their social media use which you particularly enjoy?
-Ash.
