Simmons has incredible range as an actor. He was hysterical in two episodes of the greatly missed "Party Down" and downright terrifying in "Oz".

They don't have to be this way. Despite the danger, the characters have strong motivations to be there. Cole's family wants him back and the tv folks want big ratings. It's just hard to have a rooting interest in a show when the characters behave stupidly for no other reason than plot contrivance.

Despite my gripes, I'm going to give "The River" another shot. I want this to be a good show and it's not too late for them to right the ship, so to speak.

I really want to like "The River", but so far it's been pretty disappointing. The characters aren't very interesting and seem to be lacking in the brains department. In the very first episode, one of the cameramen mysteriously disappears and is presumed dead and no one even bats an eye at what happened.

I tried watching this once, but it bored me to tears. I'll stick with "Parks and Recreation".

Give "Shakespeare in Love" a shot. Geoffrey Rush and Colin Firth are both very funny and steal the show with their performances.

I'd give a lot of credit for this film's success to Claude Rains. Yes, he's playing a Nazi, but he does truly love Alicia. Sebastian is one of the most complex and interesting villains you'll find in a Hitchcock movie and that's saying a lot.

Words cannot begin to describe how much I hated both "Erin Brockovich" and "Chocolat". "Memento" should have won the Oscar for Best Picture. How could it not be nominated?

Bravo to Mrs. Nolte. That's a brilliant tagline for the insipid "Love Story". Talent wise, MacGraw was the Demi Moore of her day.
