Definitely. It's one of those things that helps us practice putting our faith in God, and not in drugs (or a whole load of other things!) We wonder why people in other countries have more faith than we do,.... it's cuz they have to since they don't have the conveniences we do. And hey, it works for them!

If churches are building schools and hospitals and orphanages, how will they ever put together incredible light shows, or buy spinning globes for their stages, or do anything that spoiled, rich, "unchurched" people need to hold their attention through an eight minute sermon? Sweet.

Huh. Just had a thought: When Jesus said "help the poor," he told us, the Church, to do that. We weren't supposed to say "Yay, government, I applaud your efforts to help the poor. And I'll even pay you to do it!" We feel better if we support a measure that "helps the poor," especially if it requires very little of us (outside of money!). No time or effort put into that... and i think that part of the point of that command was to actually serve the poor ourselves.

I suppose if the point of the bill is just to provide health care to millions, it succeeds. But that's not all it will affect, and i don't know if the long- term implications of the bill will do more harm than good overall.

My issue with the "God- induced evolution" idea is that if God used evolution, which involves death of innocent beings, to create, then death is not the wages of sin... And He says that it is. If death isn't the wages of sin, then there is alot of theology that needs to be rethought.

It also seems very inefficient for God to have done that... I don't think it aligns with what is known about God's character for Him to waste the lives of his creatures in order to create the world. Micro- evolution (which is actually observed!) just increases the diversity and complexity of God's creation... but the potential for all of the diversity in the world was present in the first creatures/ plants/ etc. God created.
