2. I don't care if you're from the left or right, if you want more government intrusion in my life, or anyone else's, I'm against that. That's both the leftists who want to tax smokers and polluters into oblivion so they can buy votes, and the pandering religious right who want to make sure everyone lives by their morals.

An organization to determine wages, working conditions, and often political activities of members through pressure and contractual obligations,, whose members are employed in the same trade or company. While those two concepts are certainly similar enough that I can see why you're confused, this is definitely NOT a union.

This is why I often find myself at odds with other Christians: they often don't understand that I can want a secular government. It's because laws have never yet changed a person's attitudes; if you want someone to believe as you do, you have to persuade them, not legislate them into submission.
That said, I can understand a lot of their distress: PC has spent decades trying to complete suppress the rights of anyone, especially Christians, to express their views. PC-ists (mostly Democrats, but no one's got a monopoly on this mindless PC garbage) define "intolerance" not as "trying to force others to believe as you do" but as "refusing to dilute your beliefs by saying every view has the same validity"--and are remarkably intolerant of people who disagree with them. (Case in point: a Christmas festival in Chicago was ordered by the city not to show a trailer for New Line's film about the Nativity, for fear of offending someone.) A lot of people have been so afraid of state-sponsored religion that they've pushed to the point of suppressing all religious displays, and it is understandable, though still wrong, that religious people are trying to overcorrect.

Exactly...tolerance is a two-way street, as long as by tolerance you mean "respecting others' rights to believe differently" and not the new PC tolerance which means "you can't say you think someone's wrong, or anything that might offend someone."

Pretty much--they're in a position where they can't be touched, and in 2-4 years, when we can finally make the will of the people clear again, it'll take decades to undo the damage. And that's what's happened since Wilson: fascists or socialists make huge strides to strengthen government, the pendulum swings the other way and we push back--but never quite as far as they pushed, and in another decade they'll grab power again, pushing even further. Obama is the culmination, but too many people are just blaming him.

This is basically a gift certificate, and not technically illegal...but if they were using their own currency, why should that be illegal? Can anyone point out how it hurts other people to trade something of value to someone else who wants it, in return for a good or service? Even if the thing being traded isn't one of those nice pieces of paper the government pulls out of thin air?

Deliberately misinformed--socialist-minded government schools have spent decades making as many people as possible facile government servants who think that the government's job is not to protect our rights but to "help everyone out." So socialism is seen as "fairness" or "helping the oppressed," rather than the greatest instrument of oppression ever created.

This is a ludicrous distraction...Don't say "Oh God, 17 socialists," rather focus on the policies that are contributing to the expansion of government. I don't give a flying crap if someone is a member of a socialist organization or not, I care if they're expanding government at the expense of our freedom--that's a problem all of those 545 have contributed to for years, not just the 17 "identified socialists."

Exactly. "Too big to fail" is a euphemism for "excuse for a fascistic power grab." They aren't trying to make things better, they're trying to make it worse so that they can take total control,
