Say what you like folks but Universal Health care is simply the tail waggin the dog. Put some caps on health care costs & the cost of health care coverage will drop like a rock. It's called competition. There is no real competition in the health care insurance industry because the costs are unknown. Reform health care-not helath care coverage

Oh, and RB60, if someone said you were an unproductive part of society for being laid off-write them off as a moron and forget about it--Good luck to ya!!)

Unfortunately, the companies that provide health care insurance are trying to provide coverage for and industry that has an even bigger license to steal. The medical industry. Blue Cross/Blue Shield, United Health Care, John Hancock, etc are all in the business to make a profit. Unfortunately there is no regulation on the health care industry & they have some extremely powerful lobbies. I had to have three MRI's within 6 months in 1999. Every time I had one the cost had increased by $250.00 ($500.00, %750.00 & finally $1,000.00). My personal doctor purchased a "lung capcity" machine which in 2001 was supposedly to become a routine part of my physical. In 2002 he did not even bring out the machine. He simply used it on every patient who had a physical until he billed enough insurance companies to get it paid for and now only uses it on hispatients that smoke. That is a direct quote form his PA. (This really sucks--see next reply).

Socail Security was & is a fiscally sound prgram that for years took in billions more than it paid out. The reason it is in trouble today is the government, both Republicans & Democrats, couldn't keep their grubby little paws off of the surplus. They started taking the money & leaving IOU's. This is typical of any government that is handpicked & bought & left in power for lifetimes (Senators & Congressmen). They forced us into funding social security (while at the same time excluding themselves from having to particiapte) and then helped themselves to the surpluses. I guarantee you that the Federal employees retitrement fund has never been "borrowed" from. There is much more wrong with our political system today than just Rep's & Dem's. Unfortunately, short of an all out revolution it cannot be changed. Do you think that you'll ever get a Senator & Congressman to ever vote for term limits? They have set this system up to be self-serving & self perpetuating for themselves.

Check this out NewtonW--Here is a good example that people bought his campaign promises which were obviously promised without his having any idea of there consequences. Obama, considering military commissions--that's not consistent with his campaign promises. However, now that he is office he realizes that dealing with terrorists is not so black & white (no pun intended) I do not know who decides what makes a thread on this site but I can't believe they let this one slip by.

YOu are right acheyjake, I just typed in those two words without periods and was told comment must be approved by site admins before appearing publicly. Hilarious, wonder why thay don't edit sometrhing like "kill the bastards", what about communism? Whose behind this site anyway? Maybe it's been put here so thay can get a list off all of us in one place ;)

The shareho9lder's meeting was held yesterday in Charlotte. More shareholder's than ever attended. In the past it has been S O P for Bank of America's CEO to also be the Chairman of the Board. The shareholder's simply elected to do away with this and will now have a separate Chairman of the Board. Not sure it really means anythiing but was a slight slap of the wrist to the CEO. Appeared to me that the biggest outrage was over the CEO's lack of courage to stand up to the government when they applied the pressure over the Merrill-Lynch takeoever.

Overall, the shareholder's said they still supported Lewis.
