Yes, he did well. I heard Palin ASKED to speak at his concession speech, but she was promptly denied. She's something else. I've been reading a fascinating article in Newsweek. Several reporters were assigned to the campaigns, sequestered from other reporters and held to a vow of silence until the election was over. The article, of which only part one of seven is available yet, reveals what they had to keep quiet about. http://www.newsweek.com/id/167582 I'm dying for the next six parts to come out. I guess they're doing one a week....

I thought it was a very fine speech and he handled it well. I'm glad Palin didn't get to speak, lol. I was just saying to B. in chat today that I would pay to see that woman who originally hosted The Weakest Link say to Palin: "You are the weakest link. Good bye!" :)

The thing I'm most interested to hear tonight is McCain's concession speech--not just because I've been rooting for Obama, but because I'm very interested in seeing how he's going to handle it. I find a small part of me hoping he gives a shoddy concession speech full of lulz...but a larger part of me is hoping we'll see a better man tonight than we've seen these past several months. I would love to see the McCain of 2000 shine through in the end. But so far.... When he introduced his 96-year-old mother at a speech today, he related a story about how on a trip to France, when no one would rent a car to her because they felt she was too old to be driving...SHE JUST BOUGHT A CAR TO DRIVE AROUND FRANCE WITH INSTEAD!!!! Earth to McCain: midst. of. economic. crisis. wtf?

There really *is* no need for McCain to pose more contrast between himself and Obama, his other pig, the one with lipstick, has already seen to that. You know, I am coming to feel that McCain has totally lost control over his campaign. Did you see the vid of that lady who he had to put straight because she was convinced that Obama is an Arab (!!!)? (I was very amused about the media mocking Obama's pronunciation of Pakistan during the debate. Because, like, the rest of the world pronounces it like he does, lol.)

Yes, we'll be able to get high speed cable at the trailer. To get it installed at the cabin won't be cheap...but I'm hoping there will be an alternative way to get high speed internet by the time the cabin is actually built. Five to seven years is a looooooong time in technology years. :) Mark telecommutes two days a week, so he'll have to drive to work the other three. He's planning on adding another telecommuting day at some point.

That's great news! But will you have internet connection when you move? *g* I used to be a city girl (when I lived in Poland), then I moved here and into the suburbs, and I don't like it, but I've gotten used to it. Now I could live anywhere as long as I had a fast internet connection (and as long as I could telecommute.) I forget--does Mark telecommute, or will he be looking for new job?

Thank you! And no, it's not. I wish we'd have sold a year ago...but on the other hand, the property we're buying, we probably wouldn't have gotten at such a great price a year ago, so I guess it's a wash. I'm hoping that Obama/Biden get elected, consumer confidence rises, and by next spring, when we put the house on the market, people are willing to buy--maybe not as crazy willing as they have been, during the "housing bubble." I'll just be happy if the market isn't completely dead.

You'd think between the gas prices here and the difficulty in FINDING gas here traffic would be less, but it sure doesn't seem it. There were plenty of cars on the road when Mark and I were out yesterday.

Prices here went up right after the hurricane, but now they've actually gone down a little. I didn't participatein the carfree day today, and judging from the traffic I was in on the way to work, neither did anybody else here :(.

Haha. It will definitely have that unintentional effect! It's actually a result of hurricanes Gustav and Ike. Some pipelines were shut down and refineries closed in anticipation of Gustav, and they weren't fully online again when Ike appeared on the horizon, at which point even more pipelines and refineries were taken offline in anticipation...and now it's just a matter of waiting for everything to be ramped back up I guess. We had a gas panic after Katrina, but it was much shorter--and more panicky. I think it's been nearly two weeks since I first noticed that gas stations were running out of some grades of fuel.
