Out of curiousity, I did. Well, to say the least, I'm hooked. I agree, the first chapter made me feel like it was ridiculous, with the whole "marry Azuki" thing. However, the fact that it will tell about the path of becomin a mangaka from nearly square one drove me on. I'm curious to see how it will turn out. Bakuman has many elements taken from Death Note, but it is also original. There have been many realistic fiction mangas about "becoming" something, or a creative realistic dream, but none like this. It keeps me waiting for the next chapter nonetheless.
