Jord - Male Maid of Honor: What if your best friend is a man?

Im going to be a male maid of honour too, not sure when yet though, the proposal only happened yesterday which is when i was asked. Im 18 and have to be honest, i dont know a whole lot about weddings or my role as MOH. My best interest is obviously that the bride has the time of her life in the lead up and on the day of her wedding. I want to be able to fulfill the role of MOH the best I can but i really think I need some advice on how to do that. Daniel, what things have you done (or are doing) that i should start thinking about? To have someone else in my boat is reassuring, so support would be greatly appreciated lol!

Rick Bucich - The Dollar Debate

We didn't have a Dollar Dance at our wedding and in retrospect, I wouldn't add one but if it is a cultural tradition, so be it. It's mostly symbolic anyway. I did attend a wedding where many many guests gave tiny bars or gold to the bride & groom. I had never seen that before but because so many people participated, it must have been a tradition.

Betsey - The Etiquette of Picking Your Bridesmaids

My fiance and I are having 7 bridesmaids and 7 groomsmen, including my two nieces (who are my age and I grew up with) and his older brother (who he grew up with)... My older brother (who I grew up with) is walking me down the aisle since my father (who raised me) passed away a few years ago. There was a 31 year age difference between my parents and I have a few half siblings... We are trying to find a way to include my half-sister (my mother's daughter), who is 19, and my fiance's nephew, who is also 19. We decided to have them escort people inside and pass out wedding programs. We are in our late 20s/early 30's and want to them to feel included, but don't want to have them in our wedding party. The nephew is perfectly fine with his role. I spoke with my mother today, with whom I have a rocky relationship (my father had sole custody of me since I was 12), and she told me that she was deeply offended that I didn't include my half-sister in my bridal party. She said it was proper etiquette that one include her in the bridal party. I am not including my older half-brother, who is in his 50s. I really don't want to offend anyone, and I also don't want to be guilted into having 8 people in wedding party. Any input is greatly appreciated...

I asked his sisters and my sister -in-law and my 2 best friends to stand up.... Will it be rude to ask my Brother to be an usher or do I need to ask him to stand up as well? my other brother is stationed over seas and probably won't make it home to the wedding next year.
